‘Bob’s Burgers’ Extra-Rare Performer of the Week: Kuchi Kopi!

Season 7 | Episode 1 | “Flu-ouise”

Welcome, Bob’s Burgers fans, to the weekly post where a member of the Belcher family or supporting character (looking at you Teddy and Jimmy Jr.) is crowned the Extra-Rare Performer of the Week! Hardcore fans of the animated sitcom know that there’s always one breakout, standout character in every Bob’s Burgers episode to celebrate!

I promise that it won’t be Tina Belcher each week but, I mean, she is kind of everyone’s spirit animal.

Note: this weekly post originated on EW Community but now has a new home here at AGtM. Click here to see the extra-performers from season six.

Thank you sweet baby Jesus! Bob’s Burgers is back and the season seven premiere was FILLED with some very musical moments with the episode centering mainly on the youngest Belcher, Louise. I do enjoy when the series reminds us that Louise, though mischievous and very intelligent, is at her core just a little girl.

A brief summary of what went down in this week’s episode of Bob’s Burgers, “Flu-ouise:” the episode opens with the Belcher children returning from school and Bob and Linda learning that Louise has the flu! Louise literally has no problem with having caught the sickness since, hello she gets to miss school!

So Louise is in bed surrounded by all her beloved toys when she realizes one is missing her favorite toy of them all, Kuchi Kopi, who is Louise’s dedicated bathroom buddy. Linda goes to get Kuchi Kopi when she looses her grip and drops the whimsical green toy in the toilet! Cue full on Belcher family freak out because how are they going to break the news to Louise? Of course the ever brilliant Tina has the idea of sticking the toy in the oven with rice to dry it out just like people do with their smartphones if dropped in the toilet. Now all the Belchers have to do is distract Louise for 30 minutes.

Though Gene’s dance moves were impressive they were not enough to delay Louise discovering the tragic fate of Kuchi Kopi! And once Kuchi Kopi is done cooking in the oven he is nowhere near the toy he used to be. So a very angry – and refusing to take her medicine – Louise falls into a fever dream wonderland featuring talking versions of all her toys and her guide is deformed Kuchi Kopi who wants to take her to a large all brick-fortress even though Louise keeps being warned by her other toys!

Meanwhile in the Belcher household, Teddy comes over with his heat gun (I mean, there is a technical term for that tool but I don’t remember, deal with it!) to try to mold Kuchi Kopi hack into shape…bless his heart but he literally just gives the toy boobs! Don’t worry Teddy has a back-up plan, go to the toy store and buy a new one, DUH! So Teddy and Bob head out on their own Kuchi Kopi journey.

Back in Fever Wonderland, Louise and Other Kuchi Kopi make it to the fortress where they are greeted by Good Kuchi Kopi who helps Louise realize that the brick fortress is really a metaphor for Louise putting up walls around her family. To forgive is to break down the walls – deep! And that is what Louise does and when she wakes she finds a new Kuchi Kopi and forgives her family!

Another perfect Belcher (and Teddy from the restaurant) family moment!

And now, the Extra-Rare Performer of the Week is: Good and Other Kuchi Kopi

‘Bob’s Burgers’ Extra-Rare Performer of the Week: Kuchi Kopi!

Like the stories of Kuchi Kopi state he is a spirit that will help guide you and be whatever you need. So yes, the “other Kuchi Kopi” may have really been “evil” but he was what Louise needed in the moment and brought her to good Kuchi Kopi who was able to guide her to the path of forgiveness!

HOLY CRAP! Kuchi Kopi and Bob’s Burgers just hella deep!

Until next time, stay fresh, Bob’s Burgers fans!

Bob’s Burgers airs Sundays at 7:30|6:30c on Fox!
