Yep, you read that headline right and it is perfectly normal to COMPLETELY freak out!
BOOM! Studios and 20th Century Fox have made a deal for a live-action film adaptation of the highly successful comic-book series Lumberjanes!
Cue Kermit the Frog flail!
The studio has chosen Will Widger, whose claim to fame is being placed on the 2014 Hollywood Black List for his script “The Munchkins,” to pen the script. This discussion has some people, including myself, scratching their heads because HELLO, Lumberjanes was created by three chicks (Shannon Watters, Grace Ellis, and Noelle Stevenson) and illustrated by Brooke A. Allen. The series follows five kick-ass FEMALE campers who fight off supernatural junk. So like why isn’t a chick writing the script? Like, really, why Hollywood? Any who, that is my two cents.
BOOM! Studios executives, Ross Richie and Stephen Christy, will produce the film and Adam Yoelin will co-produce. Both Kira Goldberg and Ryan Jones will oversee the project on behalf of the studio. Lumberjanes is seen as a “priority project” for Fox and the studio plans to start looking for a FEMALE director once the script is finished.
No releases date is slated at the moment for the Lumberjanes film but you can bet we will let you know ALL about what is going down for this project!
Friendship to the Max!
